The house and cottage are located in the picturesque region of Normandy. The road sits on the edge of the small village of Carnet, about 20 kms south-south-east of le Mont St Michel and 2km East of the market town of St James. It is easily accessible from the nearby motorway, the A84.

The site is well located for equally good access either to Northern Brittany or Southern Normandy. Normandy beaches are about 35 minutes away to the north, and Brittany 45 minutes to the north west. Boats can be hired to sail at Julouville beach in Normandy. Dinard Airport (Ryan Air from Stansted) and St Malo are 50 minutes, Caen 1 hour, Cherbourg 2 hours and Paris in 3 ½ hours.

Apart from beaches there is a wealth of different things to do, even if the main attraction is to blob out with a novel. The local towns are all interesting, especially Fougères (25 minutes south) with a magnificent castle and mediaeval centre (web site), and Bayeux, about an hour north. The D Day battle sites are about 90 minutes away. There is a wealth of walks, along the coast or through forests.

Great Summer Holiday Home in Normandy France. House and cottage to rent. 6 or 7 bedrooms in the house. The house and cottage are located in the picturesque region of Normandy. The road sits on the edge of the small village of Carnet, about 20 kms south-south-east of le Mont St Michel and 2km East of the market town of St James. It is easily accessible from the nearby motorway, the A84. The house is of the same age and style as the cottage, dating from about 1820, also restored recently (1993). Upstairs are 4 bedrooms. One is very large, with king size bed and en suite shower and w.c. The others each have two single beds (in 2 cases they can be put together, the other one is a bed and a futon) and there is a bath/shower and w.c. Downstairs are 2 bedrooms, one with a Queen size double bed and one with a double futon (Queen size) This room can also be used as another living room. There is a shower/w.c. which also has the washing machine/dryer. Also downstairs is a very large sitting room/dining room, with a large wood burner. There is an arch to a well equipped kitchen, which has a dishwasher. There is also a large conservatory with a table tennis table, and outside dining table and parasol. There are numerous books, and many games. In addition to the wood burner, there is a central heating system.
